They should have never been tax exempt just like churches I just dont get it!

Nonprofit status isn't (necessarily) about not turning a profit -- it's a corporate structure dependent on how any surpluses are used (they're supposed to be invested back in the business instead of paying out profits to shareholders).

Wow. I had no idea they were considered ... wtf ever it is to be tax exempt.

John Oliver did say that Europeaon football is "like a religion", so I guess it's the same for the US game of the same name

- but um, seriously- NO.

Good. The exemption for trade associations isn't necessarily a bad thing, but professional sports leagues are NOT trade associations.
