Would this be the part where the vast majority of LBGT TV and film characters are still raging stereotypes?

Because reinforcing stereotypes and ignoring the many LBGT people who don't fit them... to me has always been part of the problem and not the solution.

"More" is not necessarily better. More wrongness helps no one. :(

I'm a bit confused? Are you agreeing with the article, because that's exactly the point it makes.

Yes, I'm agreeing with it. The question is, what took them so long to say this? When there was an explosion of gay characters on TV a couple of years ago, almost all of the male ones were stereotypes. People seemed to think that was progress, but if it reinforces inaccurate stereotypes, how is that really helping?

The gay character Andre Braugher plays on Brooklyn Nine-Nine? THAT helps.

Or the LGBT characters on the Flesh. I mean, in between Kieren, Simon and Rick, you have three different portrayals of queer men. With Kieren being the gentle, kind but very brave former artist trying to readjust to life, Simon a former junkie turned cult leader and Rick a veteran with PTSD

All three of them are zombies, sorry PDS sufferers, but that sure as hell shouldn't stop anyone from giving the show a chance.

I've not heard of the Vito Russo test before, so now I'll use it in my fanfic and original fic. Also bookmarking this study so I can prevent common pitfalls too.
