On other hand, we have climbing roses that we got permission to kill from the landlord that will not die. I poured round-up, ground clear and bleach at different times on these damn things and they are still going and have bloomed even more than they did last year. I'm beginning to think they are mutants.

It turns out that I didn't miss it by skipping the actual day! I was texting with a (white) friend today and told her what I thought was an amusing story about one of the regional celebrations in Mexico and got back the response, "Any excuse to do tequila shots and shout olé." :/ Then, in my class, my teacher asked how people celebrated and I got to hear about my white classmates going out drinking.
So I still got a day of feeling awkward and uncomfortable about being chicana after all! What luck.

Today I've taken the day off from work (I've put in so much extra time that my boss pretty much forced me), I just beat Donkey Kong Country Returns at 200%, and now I'm going to go pick up my paycheck and see where the wind takes me.
