Holy crap, this is horrible. It does sound like that ship hit *something*--wonder if they'll figure out what it was.

Knowing what caused this doesn't change anything, of course; but when a tragedy like this occurs, people want--and need--to know WHY.

I read on one website that some of them were shown to be fake but was took busy crying to look further into it. Watching video of it, the rescue, the parents...just devastating.

fewer than half the passengers rescued? the costa concordia was a huge disaster, but at least most of the people survived.
