Maybe I'm politically dumb, but didn't this fool try running for VP on this plan in 2012 and lose? What the hell, is this really the best you can come up with to keep yourself in office? Or is he making a point like rebulicans in house voting to stop obamcare for the 37885456 time? Fuck you, Paul Ryan, and you're stupid ideas.

He's a Congressman. He's safe at least until 2020/2022 when we do the census. And even then there's a high probability that they'll still have the numbers in their favor.

I have to wonder about proposing it now though besides Grandstanding. All Democrats need to do is run ads talking about vouchers and Medicare to take the Republican's most loyal voting bloc away from them.

seriously though the whole "Medicare will destroy our budget" is bullshit when you look at military expenditures. You know, the thing that we could cut down significantly and still have the largest military in the world? That.

Honestly. why are republicans so blind to how freaking much we waste on military spending? but- oh! helping grandma and poor children, that is the tipping point. :/

They aren't blind. There are a lot of jobs in manufacturing equipment/weapons/etc for the military. And much of that is done in states/districts that they represent. It's pork barrel spending meets military industrial complex on steroids.

This isn't even factoring in the number of civilians employed on military bases around the country, which again tend to be in areas dominated by Republicans.

I just wish they could be more creative/innovative in encouraging job creation in areas that aren't military, so that there is something in those communities to help cushion potential job loss.

voucher obsession.
cut supports to low income, children, elderly.
Cut food aid and medical access.

Here's how I think that'll play: your low wage citizenry lose their state support that supports the low wages. No food. No medical care, they start dropping like the expendable chattel the GOP perceives them to be. Jobs go unfilled. Job openings means : rising employment as they burn through the ranks of the working class.

Why do they think dismantling the tracks entirely will make the train go faster? ( it will, into the nearest canyon at 400mph.

cut supports to low income, children, elderly.
Cut food aid and medical access.

But keep subsidies for oil corporations and corporate jets intact!

See? Balance.

Because by the time the train hit the canyon, they'll be dead or retired to their fleet of 2 dozen yachts in the Bahamas and it won't be their problem. They have zip interest in whether their proposals are sustainable, so long as it benefits them and their buddies in the short term.

Pell grants and state aid is how I got my degree. My mom would have never been able to afford it, nor was she able to send me a penny. It took her 15 years of loyal service to earn what I do after my second year at my job. I can't imagine cutting this opportunity from other families.
