This is terrifying. I wish there was more that could be done. I am shocked that there isn't more coverage on this.

I am as well. The only reports I've seen are very official, sanitized versions that downplay what is actually happening over there. Stuff about "rubber bullets" and making it seem like the protestors are the violent ones. Little or no mention of the actual horrors going down.

My mother is Venezuelan and the situation there is just killing us. She was supposed to go home to visit her father and grandmother next month but she's canceled the trip and we don't know when (or if) she'll be able to go next. Meanwhile we're grateful for every phone call that lets us know that our family members are okay.

So much love and protective thoughts being sent to your loved ones in Venezuela. May they remain safe during this crisis.

This is awful. Everyone should contact news providers to insist they cover this. If those perpetrating this feel no one is watching, things will only get worse. I am so sorry for the Venezuelan people suffering this terrorising.

It's a serious problem finding reliable sources. Venezuela's 1% has been at war with the government all along (I saw the movie of the early coup), while the government seems to have left reality behind a while ago.
So whose version of anything can I trust?

Sure, thanks.
If you would, I'd also like to know how close the impressions I already have are.

Of course all the coverage is of the Ukraine instead of Venezuela. A) it ties too neatly with Russia and the focus on that area during the Olympics. B) White people rioting versus brown people rioting, which one matters more to the mainstream media?
