At 5:23 p.m. yesterday, British comedian Avery Edison was detained at Pearson International Airport after flying to Toronto to visit her girlfriend. On its face, this was a routine detainment-she reports that she was prevented from coming into Canada because she had overstayed her student visa on a previous visit-but thanks to the magic combination

Transgender woman Avery Edison finally moved to Ontario female jail after being locked in male-only facility

The shift supervisor on duty at Maplehurst Correctional Facility said that Avery Edison had recently been moved to the Vanier Centre for Women in Milton just after 6 p.m. Tuesday night. He said he couldn’t comment on anything else other than Edison was “doing fine.”

Edison’s girlfriend tweeted shortly after that there would be a hearing Wednesday morning and that Edison would be moved Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.

Thank gods she was moved to a women's jail. This whole thing is horrible, but her being in a men's facility was the scariest part, imo.

Yeeeah, she's been moved over to a women's facility now, but this still never should have happened in the first place. C-279 was approved last year, FFS.
