A family friend says Daisy Coleman, a Missouri teen whose alleged 2012 sexual assault garnered international attention, is stable after attempting suicide.

I have to dash, but ugh, reading that these women at the center of sex assaults further suffer harrassment because some people need to have their heads massively re adjusted....I hope she's got a good support system around her and a big warm fuzzy blanket right now.

( I don't even understand why someone thinks its "ok" to harass a victim like that. Where do they get this idea that it's something to do?)

Probably because in their minds there are no victims; only "accusers" and "lying [insert sexist slur of your choice]" out to ruin the lives of fine, upstanding young men.

I know,. but I can't imagine raising my son to behave or think that way, and I would consider it a failure on my part if he did behave that way.

It just defies my ability to properly articulate my rage and frustration that we have this whole mess in the first place. Its no fine upstanding young man that does this sort of thing.

What really saddens and infuriates me is he news of this second suicide attempt is going to give those harassing her something to continue to harass her over . I understand getting her story out and the reasons her mother posted the news to Facebook. Part of me wishes this girl could have the privacy to recover.

yeah, tbh, i'm side-eyeing this "longtime family acquaintance" who thought it was cool to talk to the media about where she's currently being treated and what happened. it's nobody's business but daisy coleman and her family.

So sad. What I find most sad about this is how completely unsurprising it is to me. I know I would not be able to deal with being in her situation.
I hope things get better for her.

This is beyond reprehensible. This is the kind of news that makes me want all men dead.
