I love reading stores like this. It makes me so happy to see more and more pit bulls being given a second chance and more people coming to understand that former fight dogs really can go on to be loving, wonderful pets. Hell, a few of the Michael Vick dogs even went on to be therapy dogs. Frankly, I'd adopt a rehabilitated fight dog in a second if I lived somewhere where I was allowed to have dogs/could afford to have one.
I actually got to meet one of the Vick dogs, though not one of the high-profile ones. She was just such an absolute sweetheart, out for a ride with her "brothers" (two handsome pit bulls) and her adoptive mom. I worked at McDonalds at the time, and they came through the drive-thru on an absolutely dead afternoon to get ice cream, so we all gathered at the window to say hello to her. She had some scars, but it's clear how much love she's gotten since being rescued.
My little boy is suspected of being a Bait Dog, though it is merely speculation based on the condition he was found in. He's such a little love bug. It never ceases to amaze me how forgiving dogs can be, to endure such awful things and still love humans.
Agreed. They are such an amazing organization, and such a valuable resource both in information they provide to the public and the animals they help save.
