It's sad to think that something as simple as a *place to live* is so difficult to come by, and so begrudged by so many. We have empty homes rotting into the ground - HOUSE THE PEOPLE.

Long-term solutions are both more cost-effective than short-term stopgap measures, and do more to improve the lives of the people affected? The hell, you say!

This is heartening. When there's research showing that providing people with food and shelter is cheaper than all the too-late band-aid solutions, there's no reason to reject this other than sadism.

I love that this solution is more cost-effective than all the red tape, which to me amounts to nothing more than ways to try and prevent people from obtaining help (the red tape, that is.) Get the people housed and fed, and then work on the rest. It's amazing what people are capable of when they are shown compassion.
