Fox News’ Megyn Kelly insists Santa Claus is white
Santa Claus -who is not real - "is what he is," says the Fox News host

On her show Wednesday night, Fox News’ Megyn Kelly took a stand on one of the most important issues of our time: Whether or not Santa Claus - who does not exist - is a white man. As far as Kelly is concerned, there is no question ( Read more... )

How did she get from the Slate article's "let's make Santa into a penguin" to "but Santa has to be white!" If Santa Penguin becomes a thing, then Santa Penguin is both black and white but gives 0 fucks as to a human concept like race. Because he's a penguin. And penguins don't care.

Someone ought to make one of those horrible claymation movies about Santa being turned into a penguin by eating a magic fish or something. That'll add it to the collective lore and then Santa can forever be a penguin instead of a man of any race at all.

I really just can't with the white Jesus thing. That just doesn't even make sense.

Santo Penguin has his workshop at the south pole and his submarine full of gifts is pulled by whales!

IT WOULD BE AWESOME.

I like that version even better!

And Rudolph the red nosed beluga. XD

(The article mentioning that since penguins can't fly Santa Penguin would still need the reindeer bugged me since there's no reindeer in Antarctica and that's more annoying than the lack of penguins in the Arctic Circle.)

Well reindeer can't fly either, so why not flying penguins?

You know, I mean, Jesus was a white man, too.

Yup, knew she would go there, and how very, very telling is that she went from Santa Claus's imagined racial purity to her own imaginary Jesus in two skips and a jump?

If Jesus was white he would have been really out of place in the Middle East of those times.

Okay, Santa Claus came from some European folklore or another. He's been described as an elf. Not only is he fictional, he's not even human. What a stupid and pointless argument.

Originally, the legend isn't about an elf - it's about Saint Nicholas of Myra, which is in Turkey today, so probably still not white as that Fox News lady would like to have it. His being a bishop is also why the traditional figure from before it warped into the red-robed US-style one looks something like this. In some European countries like Germany they're still quite distinct persons that are both encountered, with Saint Nicholas being centered mostly on the saint's day, which is December 6th.
