Oh, dear little fishies, the ever popular Religious Symbol Escalation.

Don't get me wrong -- I think the satanists coming in is an excellent way to make the point (and making it a play structure for children makes me laugh aloud!) -- but having seen it all play out in my state's capitol over 'holiday' decorations, it just makes me tired. Mostly because the Powers That Be never seem to get that the OBVIOUS solution is not to allow ANY of it, because religion has no place in matters of US governance.

In the WA state capitol when we had our little to-do, it started with a christmas tree and menorah. Then, I think, a festivus pole -- that was funny. Than an atheist sign... then westboro baptist church and a horrific sign telling children that santa was going to get them in their sleep for their greed, or something like that.

I rewrote the 12 Days of Christmas about the whole fiasco and mailed it to the governor's office. Never got a response. Apparently they weren't amused.
