I feel like I'm missing the part where this is as damning as the 47% remark. Or maybe it's just that I couldn't believe anyone would have the arrogance to say half the country was worthless, and I can totally believe Republicans think the only thing they have to win on is messaging, because they've been doing that since Reagan, at least.
Well, It's not going to catch fire like the 47% did so the comparison is a bit overwrought, perhaps. But it is amusing that Rand Paul - by his utter surprise that Democrats are saying privately the SAME thing they're saying publically -is basically admitting to his own party's duplicity, i.e., "Those silly Democrats are being honest about their intentions- instead of testing a message and lying their asses off to get our way- like us! Fools!"
Despite the old adage that all politicians lie. People in general like to believe that THIER local congressperson is mostly honest and has a plan. The voter likes to believe they are somewhat knowledgeable of that plan . A lot of the general public don't get that Politicians 'test' messages before campaigning on a talking point and will - yes- LIE to sell a package that may or may not have anything to do with that tested message.
In short: As I understand it, Rand Paul said- on tape- that the Democrats are honest and Republicans aren't.
