Shutdown coverage fails Americans

U.S. news reports are largely blaming the government shutdown on the inability of both political parties to come to terms. Over here in Denmark the media is calling it pretty much the way it is. They're saying that the republicans in congress are guilty of holding up debate and negotiations, of tripping up reasonable legislation and that it is embarrassing. Of course there's also the bandwagon journalism that just repeats what's on the tickers out of the US.

Balanced reporting doesn't mean you treat both sides as equally valid. It means you do your absolute best not to inject your own biases into the mix and report on what is happening. Not all opinions are created equally, and it's deceitful to suggest they are.

Ugh, you're probably right. I've seen so much fapping (if you'll pardon the expression--it is accurate though) over this on teabagger sites that it's just disgusting.
