It's kind of mind-boggling. Or, y'know, a LOT mind-boggling. How the hell do these people keep getting voted in? I don't get it. At all.

I would say I hope these folks are unable to sleep at night with guilty consciences, but I doubt they're that self-aware. :-/

My family who lives in a very conservative area is against Obamacare. If they hear about this, they'll probably be glad their Congress member is fighting the good fight.

But the right wing probably think passing only 36 laws is a great thing.

Is this threat to shut down gov't funding this time different from last time? At at risk of becoming blasé about this (while still very sorry for people stressed by this), is this another game of chicken?

Pretty much. We will, at the last possible minute, once again pass a continuing resolution to make sure that "the hard working members of our military, defending our freedom overseas" will get paid.

Yup. "Only 36 laws! That sounds like small government!"

To understand how screwed up this is, you have to have some concept of how government is *supposed* to function, and I'm pretty sure the people voting in the tea party loons don't.

Every time i read something like this, i imagine how the country would stand if we had a Congress that was even *marginally* willing to cooperate and help make things better.

It just makes me furious.
