It should be easy, unless he managed to crack the memory itself, and even if he did they should be able to get at least some of it. iPads have all-flash memory, which isn't as easy to recover as a typical hard drive but is still doable.

I am pleased (if that's the word) that the police chief isn't trying to accuse Shellie Zimmerman of lying, which is what I expected when I first saw the headline.
