McCain's answer just shits me. He probably didn't mean anything of it, but it's just one of those things people who are old and so set in their ways they don't even realize they HAVE ways say. He's a decent, family man...so obviously he's not an Arab? Pretty sure Arabic people love their families just as much as we do.
So true. But I've watched this clip a couple of times now and I think what McCain heard was "he's an Arab, so he's a bad person" (which was the gist of the sentence anyway) and kind of went to defend the latter without realizing how his reply sounded.
However, this is probably the only moment in this campaign that I found reason to defend McCain... ;-)

It's like...we have to hate something. It used to be blacks but since it's not acceptable to be out and proud about that (people can only get away with secretly hating them), we now all have to hate Muslims. It's just fucking disgusting. Not every Muslim hates America and wants to kill its babies and rape its women.
I was just thinking that.. it's like Americans thrive on fear. Fear of black people, hippies, Communists, terrorists.. it's fucking ridiculous. And Republicans love to play with that fear because that's what has gotten them votes in the past.

At least, besides these people, many Americans have seemed to wise up, even before the economy went to hell.
