a sergeant first class assigned to an assault prevention program

This is depressingly unsurprising. I know within activist communities there are a lot of folks who've been assaulted by pieces of shit who write, talk about and do workshops about sexual assault and rape. These fuckfaces know just how to manipulate someone and it's easier for them to later claim that everything was consensual and gaslight survivors.

I want to punch and kick things. Lots of things. In the throat.

Damn. Every time I start thinking that I know just how fucked up the world is, I find out something that makes me realize it's even WAY more fucked up than the shit I already knew about. :-\

You know? Total honesty time. I used to be one of those people who cringed at broad-sweeping statements like 'men suck.' Even though I wanted to understand why people said it and give them the space to say it, there was always that little voice in my head: Why would you paint an entire group of people with one brush?

But nope. This is my tipping point. I get it now. Everywhere there are large groups of men, shit like this happens.

Men fucking suck.

"Though we adore certain men individually we agree that as a group they're rather stupid to say the least!"

Pretty much!

In her May 12 op-ed column “It takes some brass to say things like these,” Ruth Marcus, while correct about the problem, missed the point of Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Welsh’s comments before the Senate Armed Services Committee ( ... )

I like how they say that the military's identified the problem "albeit too late" but complain about the senior military leaders being called clueless and uncaring. If it took you this long to finally address your problem... you were either blind to it or you ignored it. Those are your two options.

I am perfectly comfortable calling senior military leaders clueless and uncaring. Also misogynistic douchenozzles who let this go on way too long.

This is making me more and more apprehensive about my niece, who joins the Marines this August. Arrgh.

my nephew graduates within a month from boot camp and he identifies significantly more with his (abusive asshole father) than his mom (who he does not speak to).. so... yeah... from a different angle, i too, worry.

This is angering. I can at least take solace in the fact that more suvivors are coming forward than previously.
