I hope it hurts the Syrian Arab Republic and Hezbollah and helps the rebels, but I harbor no delusions of Israeli benevolence.

My bff's grandmother lives in Damascus and they haven't been able to get hold of her as of when my friend called me this morning. Her uncle's throat was slit and his 10 year old son was suffocated, right outside of his school. Not sure which side did it, but I'm team nobody since many of the rebels aren't even Syrian and some of them are Al Queda operatives trying to take over. (My friend watched a documentary on PBS or NOVA about it a couple of weeks ago.)

OMG, that is all so horrifying. Does the grandma stay in Damascus because she has no choice or free will? It's terrifying over there right now. Hopefully, she is okay.

As far as I know, she's lived there her whole life. My bff is Syrian on her father's side. Her family is wealthy, so it's possible she feels secure? I'm sure she could leave if she wanted. My friend lived with that side of her family when she was a toddler (not in Syria, in the United Arab Emirates I think), but hasn't seen them since. She doesn't speak to her father at all.

Would people be upset about this if the GCC Peninsula Forces had carried out this same action?
