R.I. Senate approves same-sex marriage 26 to 12

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The state Senate voted 26 to 12 Wednesday to allow same-sex couples to marry in Rhode Island as early as August 1.The bills, the latest in a long-line of gay marriage bills dating back to 1996, now go to the House, which voted 51 to 19 earlier this year to pass an earlier version of one of the bills. Now if we could just finish passing the same-sex marriage bill here in IL, and MN gets theirs passed, maybe MN, IL, and IA could get together and start peer pressuring IN and WI!
