i heard of this last summer when i was abroad in a country that had bought those devices. i was working with a physicist who's also military and he told me the story. apparently it doesn't matter that litterally everyone knows they are fake, the military don't want to admit they made and error in buying them and replace them. D:

This is just so absolutely horrific. I hope he spends more than just 'the next few years' in jail. >:(

Horrible! Didn't anybody test them? You'd think that after a couple of these didn't detect bombs that subsequently exploded, people would get on the clue train.
