Just to let everybody know, Alan Simpson is one of the most vocal proponents for government austerity, and wants to get rid of things like food stamps and social security. So yeah, while he's pretty good about gay rights and abortion rights, he's hardly the most reasonable.

He's a good example of a Republican many Democrats/liberals would vote for, because as long as gay sex and abortions are free-flowing, fuck the poor, amirite?

Just to clarify, I think gay rights and reproductive autonomy are important. I just am depressed by the number of liberals who are only liberal for those two issues and if the Republican party could lighten up, would be more than happy to throw the poor under the bus.
