This is pretty much exactly how I feel right now.

No, I'm afraid it was exactly the opposite of what the civil rights movement felt like.

Nah, I expect it's probably just what the civil rights movement felt like . . . from the perspective of people fighting against civil rights.

Bugger. I just had a thought that the photo I posted as comparison might be a bit of a trigger for some people, considering that kind of nasty sentiment is far from dead and people do have to deal with it in real life. I just went with the "historical archive" thought and then reconsidered.

I can't edit it since I've been replied to. But if people do find the photo an unexpected unpleasantness, I hope the Mods will take it down.

Besides the fact that he's full of shit... I was there and, unless he's talking about some completely different event, there were A. nowhere near 10,000 anti-gay activists; 5,000 is also pretty damn generous; and B. no anti-gay protesters in front of the building itself. They were all across the street.

That said, I'll go back to breathing the air of this poisoned culture, now.

Also, the one anti-gay sign I could see (and, yes, they were far enough across the street that I had to jump up to see them) had a giant swastika on it. So there's that.

Ah, yes, such charming and touching examples of the values we Americans want to spread!

...Excuse me, going to vomit now after typing that.

(ironically)
So God created man in his image. Whose image did the God used creating a woman? a woman-monkey?) and why, then, a monkey looks so God-like?

Dr Zaius/

Because God made the Ape in his image, and then he made man. Man is a menace, he should be limited lest he destroy himself.

Didn't the old joke go something like: God created man, and looked upon his handiwork and said "I can improve on this..."

We are his last creations... We can't be topped.
