It was salvaged, the inscription was on the polish and did not damage the actual painting
Apparently the women could be in for 7 year sentence and 100 000 euros fine

Also it seems she's mentally ill and might not be legally "responsible"

Nice work, tinhat.

That said, being the child of an art conservator, the older the painting is the easier it is to separate new ink or paint from old. It'll take an expert, but they'll be able to fix this.

i just added an edit -- apparently the restorers were able to remove all traces of the mark in a few hours' work. huzzah!
