I guess I missed that passage in the Bible that said "And God said let there be guns".

I would really like to know how the religious right is going to use God and the Bible to promote guns. I have nothing against guns, but I think a lot of people have missed the point on what people want to see done about guns. Most people don't want guns banned, they want laws to help prevent mass tragedies. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if they are just jumping on this to have there name put out there.

Apparently, it was in their New Revised Shotgun Edition. Holy Hand Grenade sold separately.

Seriously, it should not be this hard. It's only four words; it's at least three times smaller than the passage of Leviticus about homosexuality.

And I don't have my bible at hand, but isn't there a part in the bit where the soldiers come for Jesus, and one of the apostles tries to stop them using his sword, cutting off a guy's ears. And then Jesus healed the soldier and stopped his apostle from doing so? As in the 'no violence' not even to protect him... rule.

A couple of things:

It might seem odd that those who profess allegiance to the teachings of Jesus Christ would be so vociferous about making sure that Americans have continued, unfettered access to assault rifles.

There are a lot of early Christian stories (4th century CE) that have various saints being visited by Jesus bedecked in finery and recognizing him as Satan. I kind of wonder if Calvinists, in their rush to view material success as a sign of God's favor, couldn't tell the difference.

Barber went so far as to predict a coming civil war if the White House moves forward with gun control.

You know, part of me realizes how disastrous that would be. But another part of me would love to see these yahoos kick the hornet's nest hard enough to actually get the federal government's attention. All the guns in the world won't do shit against an actual military force.

I wish they modelled themselves on Christ's teachings!
