Lol, same. I think it was mostly my maternal instincts going "BABY BABY SOMEONE'S HAVING A BABY OMG," since I really don't care about Will and Kate specifically.
I think they only reason they announced so early was because she had to be admitted to the hospital. Otherwise, they probably would have waited until the twelve week mark.
My college specialty is the Tudors. When I think Elizabeth I, I think the batty old lady who was prone to flashing horrified courtiers who were just waiting for her to finally die. But then again my own professor in Tudor history called me a smartass (affectionately of course).
Can you recommend any good books about the wackiness of Elizabeth I? I've never heard of this particular social indiscretion and I really enjoy reading about the era on an educated-person-but-not-a-specialist level.

I asked my Tudor/Stuart England professor if he knew today, and then he said he didn't care because he stopped caring about the monarchy after 1936.
