Uganda will officially pass the ‘Kill The Gays’ bill at the end of this year despite international criticism.

Speaker Rebecca Kadaga said the anti-gay bill will become law by December since most Ugandans ‘are demanding it’.

Referring to the law as a ‘Christmas gift’ to the population, she spoke of ‘the serious threat’ posed by homosexuals.

This is so bad. A much better "Christian gift" would be to love thy neighbor. Just a thought.

And how do you think that would effect the 35% of Ugandans currently living in poverty?

I'm not too familiar with this situation, but I'd want to know how the government was spending aid before making a decision either way. If they actually used as much of it as possible to help those in poverty then I'd agree with you.

I blame the religion. I can't imagine how hard is to live in Africa and religion must be the obvious treatment for grief... with horrible side effects.

Pretty much everything about this sentiment is ignorant and ridiculous, just to let you know.

In seriousness: "how hard it is to live in Africa"? You do realize it's a continent, right? And thus has a huge breadth of different cultural and fiscal climates, yes?

I can accept criticism. And it is not my first ignorant comment :) So, I appreciate feedback.

I meant non-Arab Africa and not Southern African Republic. The most wealthy of these countries is steal more poor then Russia where I live. And, economically, it is hard to live in Russia if you are not in Moscow. Therefore, I can sympathize with Africans.

But also think that most people are good persons. The whole nation can't be so sociopaths to approve such barbaric laws, unless they are brainwashed. And the religion is the only suspect to blame except national traditions.

For the record I agree with calling a place "socially backward" if 89% of the population wants to get rid of gay people.
