At this point, those islands are more of a curse than being an actual good. I understand as to why both China and Japan need that delicious oil so badly (depleted energy resources) but lately, it's more like a toy both siblings have been fighting over rather than share.

As far as I understand the matter, - China is pretty much like Britain: papasha_mueller September 25 2012, 17:04:47 UTC

Also a lack of trained crew on large ships. That thing is going to sink within 24 hours of any hostility if it deploys.

I've actually meant the whole 'ecosystem' papasha_mueller September 25 2012, 20:37:47 UTC
which includes the aircrafts, the training site, the pilots, the developed methodics, etc.
Thank you for making it clear for the public.

Oh, yeah, China. Like you are at all interested in anything aside from intimidation. If they wanted a peaceful solution, they'd be suggesting arbitration or mutual sharing.

I agree with you on that. It's gut-wrenching watching these countries that should have each other's backs be pushing toward war. How is this in anyone's interest?

Wait, WHAT?
*looks at the history of China and Japan in the 20th century*
*looks at the relations of Taiwan with both*
OK, for what reason SHOULD they have each other's backs? I'm surprised they haven't gone to war before now.

Yes Taiwan. Make the same arguments for the Senkaku islands that China pretty much makes to try and take away your independence. Argh.

This is why I can't stand Ma Yin-jiu or the KMT. Gaaaah.

Edited because I accidentally a word.

Shit on all of these countries. China has no interest in mutual sharing, Taiwan has no interest in mutual sharing and Japan has absolutely NO interest in mutual sharing.

Well, I admit I'm biased. I don't really give a crap about China. I'm Taiwanese American, so their behavior is particularly painful to watch. It's just a bunch of adult children squabbling over a toy.

The sorriest I feel is for the people living on those islands. In their position I'd be fucking terrified.

The islands are uninhabited, I think.

No one lives there, though.

Aside from, last I heard, a bunch of goats.

Everyone wants the islands because of suspected oil and mineral deposits in the area. That's it.
