"Free trade" is a sacred mantra in Washington. If anything is labeled as being "free trade", then everyone in the Washington establishment is required to bow down and support it. Otherwise, they are excommunicated from the list of respectable people and exiled to the land of protectionist Neanderthals.

thanks for this article. I live in Japan and TPP seems to be extremely unpopular with a lot of people judging by the signs I see, but I didn't know too much about it.

I've heard bits about this but nothing in the mainstream news. The changes to pharma costsfreak me out and, hell, I don't trust the US since they screwed Canada in parts of NAFTA.
