Lost had one of the most distinctive soundtracks on television, ranging from "La Mer" to Willie Nelson, Geronimo Jackson to Chopin, Charlie playing "Wonderwall" to...Driveshaft.

Discuss and post tracks from all the music used in the series!

Michael Giacchino's score is definitely welcome, for even though there was an appreciation post one Read more... )

I totally agree with you about Murray Gold and Doctor Who, OP! I'm not only referring to the instrumentals, though - there are some songs whose lyrics would be really appropriate for LOST. Particularly this one:

It reminds me of Kate and Sawyer thinking of Jack and Juliet respectively after leaving the Island:

Well I woke up today and you're on the other side
Our time will never come again
But if you can still dream
Close your eyes it will seem
That you can see me now and then

Also Jack thinking of Kate:

So have a good life
Do it for me
Make me so proud
Like you want me to be
Where ever you are
I'm thinking of you oceans apart
I want you to know

YES I am a huge sap, and I apologise in advance for the length of this comment, lol.

IA with the Doctor Who soundtrack. Love the music in that series so much. My favorite is Song of Freedom. Gives me chills every time! But now I'm going to get distracted by the Doctor.

I love the variety of music they used on Lost, besides the fantastic soundtrack by Michael Giacchino. Mn so many tv shows when they want to show off their musical taste they go right to jazz. Always jazz. Or blues. This drove me crazy on Star Trek TNG and DS9.

Using Make Your Own Kind of Music in a suspenseful/creepy/WTF scene? FUCKING GENIUS.

One song I wish they'd have used: Mad World.
It makes for some awesome vids, though.

This one will depress the hell out of you:

yeah, I like jazz and blues, but they tend to use more standard, boring choices. Nothing as fun as, say, the Cowboy Bebop theme song:

the most surprising music choices can be the most effective.

I agree on "Mad World," although I've seen it used so many times that it's a bit of overkill now.

Make Your Own Kind Of Music scared me a little when I heard on LOST. I wasn't expecting to hear Mama Cass.

THE PAST TENSE IN THIS POST IS STILL FREAKING ME OUT. D':

I really love almost all the scores, honestly. I was rewatching some of Season 1 and just... Man.

Musical Montages at the end of episodes get me every time, too, whether it be the Giacchino's music or a song from Hurley's walkman.
