I think I've decided that when it comes to Jacob and MiB, it's not really a question of who's good and who's evil, but rather who's evil and who's evil-er.
They're both maniacs who used other people to do their own bidding regardless of the consequences, the damage or the hurt they could cause.

But MIB killed Eko! Eko!!! And if it was really MIB in Jacob's cabin who told Locke to move the island then I'm blaming MIB for all the deaths that resulted in including in a completely round about way Juliet!

But if Jacob is the one who brought Juliet to the island in 2001, knowing how it would all end in 1977, then he's responsible, right?

You know, I was pondering the whole purge thing yesterday, and I think Widmore was definitely recruited by MiB probably after Eloise left the island. I could see Smokey appearing to him, possibly as Faraday, to offer him a Sayid-type of deal. It could be why he told Locke that he needed to be back on the island or the wrong side would lose the war, maybe he knew that MiB needed Locke.

But, on the subject of death, if Jacob lured everyone to the island, knowing that MiB would be pissed off and go on a killing spree, then he is equally responsible. They're both dicks, though.

You know, I have been thinking about this. In a way it makes a whole metric ton of sense. Widmore like plays the MiB to Ben's Jacob. Widmore is overt and to the point, whereas Ben is much more behind-the-curtain manipulative. Maybe that's what the big parallel with those two is. It's not two old Otherly leaders so much as it is a mini MiB and Jacob.

*nods emphatically* Yes, I like this better than just Widmore being butthurt over being ousted as leader. I really hope Widmore's past isn't one of the threads they leave dangling because it really does add to the story.

There really might be something to this, because remember Bram nabbing Miles and telling him the war was coming and Miles was about to join the wrong side?

I am still hoping SOMEHOW Widmore is the one coming to the Island.
