Omg this guy is adorable, hahaha. You can tell he really loves LoK and playing Bolin. I'm holding back on comments about Mako's VA, though.

ia. bolin's VA is great and enthusiastic and he does a great job. mako's VA however does not help with my dislike of mako, goddamn.

He seems cool. And of the teenage characters, he is by far the best VA. Too bad the show doesn't give him anything to work with.

lol the mako guy better brace himself. It ain't gonna be pretty..

PJ Byrne is a trained actor and it shows in his voice acting work. He brings a depth to the character that Janet Varney and David Faustino don't. I agree, it's such a shame that the writing for Bolin is way below what the actor is actually capable of.

Yeah, not that they're giving Mako much to work with either but to be honest, I think Korra's VA is the one who really needs to step it up. She actually gets hefty material and she's not handling the serious moments that well.

lol tru dat re: Mako

Janet Varney just doesn't bring any subtext to her line readings. Whatever is there is all on the surface, which in turn makes Korra's character feel one-dimensional and kind of...simple. A more trained/talented/experienced actor could bring more to Korra's line readings that would give us more insight into the character and help explore any internal conflicts. It's a big problem when you consider Korra's problems with airbending. Like, what is the airbending resolution of Book One: AIR going to be? I don't sense any internal maturation/conflict resolution that would make any eventual airbending truly emotionally satisfactory. I mean, does Korra even HAVE any internal conflicts, acknowledged or unacknowledged? I don't get the impression from the character that she does.

He's funny!

Side-eyeing him a bit about that live action LoK question though.

Yes, really.

Call it harmless or whatever, but that was an ignorant answer.

i feel sorry for mako's va. i actually hope people can recognize that he isn't responsible for how mako's been written.

well he can be questioned about that but i mean just attacking him in general over how mako's been would be dumb.
