But the Equalist foot soldiers are showing a few signs of Turok-Han syndrome-they started out as formidable opponents, but as the series goes along they seem to get less and less good at their jobs.

This is why I rolled my eyes when the air babies attacked. You're telling me 3 kids, all under the age of 14, with what I assumed was NO real world fighting experience, could take on a whole force of chi blockers with shock weapons? It was funny/cute, but it felt forced.

When he first appeared, you could understand where he and the other Equalists were coming from, but he’s quickly devolved from a character you could sympathize from into a monster, a boogeyman benders will someday tell their children about at night.I've felt this way for awhile, but not completely in regards to Amon. I wanted to know more about what got the Equalist movement started, about the conditions that led up to it. The show hasn't done a good job of this, only getting ONE episode where Tarrlock is abusing his power, and that's AFTER the Equalists have shown ( ... )

Aang successfully fought off firebenders in the first two episodes, and the show didn't take years. Wasn't Roku's warning about the Comet that it was the coming summer?

Yup. ATLA lasted a year at most, and probably closer to nine months or so.

I think it was more their fighting style (how much practice do they get against air, which is very heavy in dodging) and the mobility of little kids. They've probably taken down tons of adults and muscle memory will mess with you. =P

I'm annoyed also at the bender privilege thing being glossed over/passed by. Frankly, I saw the Equalist movement as the original Tea Party versus what it turned into. Originally it was based around the Fair Tax and tax reform, then devolved into a heavier right religious organization with a mess of a message that covers much, much more. The Equalist movement seems to have started in just wanting basic rights then turned into a genocidal mess, where I'm sure those who just wanted to feel represented are sitting around going "what the hell happened?"

do we know the origins of the equalist movement? maybe it was just a front for amon's takeover from the start. i wonder if we'll ever find out.
