The Reviews are in: "Korra shows exactly what cartoons are capable of"

Mar 18, 2012 16:38

The Legend of Korra won’t be gracing televisions until April 14th, but I was lucky enough to watch the first episode a little early. It’s a strange thing, watching something you’ve anticipated for a long time, especially when you weren’t expecting to see it so soon. It’s a situation in which your hopes will either be fulfilled or let down, and you ( Read more... )

you won't regret it. as they said above it starts slow, but it has only one filler ep in all their seasons and they are mature beyond their 7-14 demographic.

also, icon <3, jessica is a kween

we can hope! considering the hype it's been getting makes me think it definitely will! everything i've read so far in terms of reaction to the leaked episode have been immensely positive.

some people are worried about the lack of a set plot but i don't think it's lacking that, it just hasn't presented itself yet which, personally, i think is more exciting. with a:tla we had the outline from the start, lok will give us bits and pieces.

The only negative point of seeing the episode leaked was that now we have to wait even longer for the second episode D:

So is homeless bush man the new Foamy mouth guy?

He reminded me a lot of Dock/Shu from "The Painted Lady," actually. idk, I guess I'm hoping there will be a more pointed reference to dear old Foamy somewhere down the line, haha.

Oh I haven't seen Painted Lady in a long time (currently in the middle of season 2 for my ATLA marathon) so that's why I didn't mention him D:

No worries. "The Painted Lady" is not one of my favorites (the only season 3 ep I skip on rewatches tbh), but for some reason I remembered him. idk why, because he doesn't live in awesome sparkly bushes like his future doppelganger. :P

Don't know if we need to do spoiler warnings for this post, but I will anyway. SLIGHT SPOILERS for the first episode of Korra:

I'm pretty sure Sokka is not Toph's babydaddy. Just going by Lin and Tenzin's conversation, I got way more of a slightly bitter exes than cousin vibe. Honestly, I wouldn't put it past Bryke to never tell us who Lin's father is because obviously Toph earthbended her into existence.

Glad to see the ep is getting good reviews!

And Toph is badass, stunning, etc. just like Hippolyta. All of the pieces fit.
