I completely agree! I denied for years that I was a Gryffindor even if deep down I knew that was the house I most identified with because most people would only look at the houses at face value as presented by the books. I also identify quite srongly with Slytherin so I adopted that as my house. Since Pottermore I have come to accept that I am a Gryffindor but I get endlessly irritated when I see people saying they are Gryffindors just because it is the 'good' house which is utter bullshit. One ~ We hade Peter Pettigrew in our house who did some so heinous as to betray his friend and bring about their murder and the potential murder of their infant, but people seem to gloss over that. Two ~ The book is written from a Gryffindor's biased views. Of course it is going to seem like the best house in his eyes not to mention most of the people closest to him are also Gryffindor's and share the same bias for their house.

Barack Obama, on the other hand, is a consummate Gryffindor. He comes across in interviews and speeches as someone who's truly kind and angry about the country's woes, though it's clear he doesn't recklessly allow this anger to cloud his decisions.

Of course, gryffindors are not reckless at all

Seriously, I probably could've written something better than this when I was fifteen. (Then again, fifteen wasn't too long ago for me so maybe I'm kidding myself.)
