Post-Conflict Potter

I ran across an interesting article today/tonight that elaborated on how life should be like for the wizarding world after Voldemort's defeat using principles and concepts found in the Muggle world.  To save you from the trouble of reading a TL;DR post (I highly recommend reading the entire article) and myself from bolding all the good bits, I will ( Read more... )

This is a very interesting article.

The next Minister of Magic should close Azkaban on day one of his administration. It is a symbol of abuse and a recruiting tool for future Death Eaters.

Azkaban stayed open right? They just got rid of the Dementors if my memory serves me correctly. I guess they still need a wizarding prison, as they would have a lot of Death Eaters who committed atrocities during the war being sent there.

Is Azkaban the only wizard prison?

Because it seems pretty ridic that minor wizard criminals risk their soul being taken away

But how would they control that? Couldn't the dementors just float wherever they wanted?

I don't know. They sent Hagrid there on a suspicion. You'd think if there was a lower security prison available they would have sent him there at least until guilt or innocence was determined.

But idk. Maybe there are more in which case I'm not necessarily against closing that specific one.

Azkaban shouldn't be closed but they should seriously do away with Dementors. They still need a prison because a lot of the death eaters will need to go away for murder and building a new one when they already have one seems silly when they have so much else to worry about.

They should definitely forgive minor offenses. Like Lucius Malfoy obviously needs to do time for his crimes but Narcissa and Draco should be forgiven (which obviously Draco was by the epilogue I just mean cases like theirs and am using them as examples).

Pretty sure Narcissa's actions got Lucius off as well and he didn't have to go to Azkaban.

Forbid the use or testing of certain forms of dark magic anywhere on the planet. The treaty should be enforced by deploying a ground-based network of sensors, or Sneakoscopes, throughout the world to detect unlawful spells.

prohibiting something will only make it more tempting...

MTE. This kind of paranoia could make a lot of problems, and how to really detect it? I thought Sneakoscopes were temperamental.

Are we going to duel? You'll kick my ass like Snape did to Lockhart, but this doesn't mean I love you less...
