the epilogue is far from being my favorite, but i do like it at least bc we get to see that harry finally got what he craved the most (family) and was happy. imo i think she could have approached it differently for sure, but ida that it's exactly unrealistic (or as unrealistic as you can get in a fantasy series). it's set 19 years in the future, and a lot of the post-war rebuilding could have already been taken care of by then

ITA that Teddy would be a Ravenclaw. I don't know why. Maybe it's the blue hair.
I've got some ideas where the other kids would wind up, but I'm not quite sure. You'd think after all tat has happened they would try to promote school unity and respect for other Houses, but Albus is still afraid of winding up in Slytherin. That's not a good sign. My headcanon is mostly based on the idea that they *did* try to get rid of old prejudice and the rest is just kids being nervous about leaving home.
IA on the names too. It seems odd because they're all introduced to us with their full name in a few sentences. It makes for odd reading. But the names themselves are fine.
i'm not answering every question lol, but my feelings on the epilogue are this: hated it at first, but the more I read it I came to appreciate it. I mean, all through the series, the one thing that Harry has always wanted was a family, and now he has his own, so it makes sense. I didn't care about the ships.
I do wish that JKR added some more info. Besides Malfoy and Neville, we didn't learn much about what the other characters were up to (heck, she didn't even include the TRIO's and Ginny's occupations. That interview afterward doesn't really count). Why was Percy on the platform? Did Teddy have a job? Where was McG? Did Kingsley remain Minister?
Oh, and I actually think Albus Severus Potter ended up in Ravenclaw.
I usually put Albus in Slytherin, if for no reason but to show that times are different now. He doesn't really feel like a Gryffindor, but then Neville or Percy or even Hermione weren't very typical Gryffindors either.
I'd love for even one of George's kids to be somewhat Percy-like and the other way around.
omg, your last sentence - that would be amazing. i'd actually like it if fred was the percy-like one, but knowing JKR, he's probably a replica of fred I instead.
percy having a kid that was like either of the twins would just be glorious, tho. new personal canon for me, tbh.
2. the names have grown on me tbh, I do think it's kind of weird when ppl don't like them b/c they say Ginny should have named some of them. it's not like she didn't know the ppl they were named after too, so I think she must have agreed on the names. 2b. I think it's qt that Hermione and Ron's kids have the same initials as them
3. I don't think the epilogue is necessary but I wouldn't have liked it to end on that line either. I've always wondered how it was going to end when she was planning on the last word being 'scar'
5. I like the movie version, altho I wish they had kept in Ron's joke about him being famous. I am sooooooo glad they reshot it tho, they look so much better in the final version.
7. I don't think Harry would have given them either.
8. Hagrid obviously
9. I think Harry's job suits him, he would enjoy it and be good at it.
I like it. Certain parts do feel a bit forced maybe, but I wonder if it isn't because we're looking for them. If this had been the second or third chapter in a whole new book, those references to all those characters might not seem so weird. Now it seems as if JKR is cramming everyone in there, but it might seem natural that way. It's why I also don't think it's odd everyone's so happy. Most of the chapters at Platform 9 3/4 were. I'm sure there's all sorts of other stuff going on before and after.
I definitely felt something was needed after the previous chapter anyway. The ending would have felt too abrupt. I don't know if that's true for the movie...Or maybe I'm still annoyed about the lack of Teddy Lupin.
i love the epilogue. i thought it was really sweet and qt. i am a sucker for a cheesy happy ending, and after the heaviness of the last few books it was welcome. (the kids' names were the worst, though.)
