I'm of two minds about Gloria's desire to have her appearance be about revisiting the grandmother.

On the one hand, the only probable outcome of such a story would be the grandmother coming around, which I don't know is that realistic and people have already criticized Santana's story as being overly easy - losing the grandmother was essentially the only consequence, and this'd be going back on even that.

Conversely, there's something to be said for doing it simply because it would retroactively lend a bit more weight to the original. As it is, the grandmother is a one-scene character whose relationship with Santana really doesn't mean anything, so bringing her back would serve to make it actually matter more.

I agree, I'd rather see some other sl with Gloria. The scene with Santana's grandmother was the highlight of IKAG but well, that episode set the bar very low, so I hope Gloria's storyline with Santana will be more satisfying than what we've seen so far.

Especially when they announce other guest stars like Rachel's dads or Blaine's brother and they are on set like a week later and they announced Gloria months ago.

She was announced at the same time as Ricky Martin, but they subsequently changed the nature of her role into its own (larger) story (which I'd be sure was a reaction to the backlash).
