THAT WAS AMAZING! I died a thousand deaths during that match. It was a real relief to see a top match like that with so many chances. The match could have gone both ways, it could as well have ended with Brazil as the winner.
But Brazil threw everything and the kitchen sink at us and we survived. This team is on a mission. And they pushed all their differences aside to go for it. Huge credit goes to Martinez. There was a lot of doubt about him. But he delivered not only tactically but he also managed to create a team that has a lot of mental strength.
I think it helps that the team is older jazzypomJuly 7 2018, 08:55:10 UTC
In that they know (for a fair few of them) it's the last chance salon. I wonder if it helps that most of them play for and against each other in the PL, so they know how their styles.
Yeah, Martinez has gotten over himself as well in terms of tactics. Less romance about football and more about shutting up shop and using the resources available to him. I do remember telling some Belgians when Martinez got the job that Martinez loves a good cup run, but hates club seasons.
They were very amazing. I'm so happy it was Belgium who knocked out Brazil. Every article I read before the game predicted Brazil to go through, because of so and so. But this World Cup never worked with predictions. Belgium didn't really have it easy with Japan and Brazil, which makes winning all the more better. Easy breezy games are meh.

So I expected Belgium to go on a deep run.
