I'd be surprised if the aeroplane had left underfueled, considering how tight the legislation is around carrying at least 30 minutes extra. I wonder if there was a fault with the tank, so it was used up (or leaked out) too quickly.

I feel like the child sex abuse scandal was abetted by the homophobia in football. Like, if there was less fear around talking about having sex with men, the victims might have felt more able to come forward sooner. Instead, there's this culture of "you have to keep it a secret because people will think you're gay if you tell anyone and that will ruin your career" that abusers can use to silence the victim and make them feel culpable, and that message got reinforced every time fans used homophobic chants, the media threatened to out players, and of course the narrative around Fashanu.

Apparently the pilot also owned shares in the airline company and it's common in South America to not take as much fuel as mandated (so something like enough for the entire journey and 45 minutes more) in order to save money. And the pilot didn't declare a fuel emergency because it meant he might have lost his licence/been fined a lot, which would defeat the purpose of trying to save some money by not bringing enough fuel, so....

Owen Hargreaves looks alright for mid-thirties, but he's no Henry or Zizou (who haven't aged in like, 10 years).
