We seem to be trying to play the team around Rooney instead of trying to play to our best eleven. Rooney can't do midfield, and he's too slow for being a forward. I don't know what Rooney was doing so far in midfield (to the point of being a CB), and slowing the play down and moving the ball sideways.
Cahill didn't do too badly. I didn't find myself screaming at him when he got the ball (or any of our defence, to be fair).
But it seems Rooney is untouchable, because Sam can't tell him where to play. I mean, what? Isn't that what the manager is supposed to do?

Makes you wonder how those connections are. Back during the WC in Brazil, the whole Brazilian team was put together because big money said so, the manager never had a chance.

Makes you wonder how those connections are. From my vantage point, I think the sticking point is the fact that Rooney is supposedly 'the face' of English football. It doesn't help that Nike is England's kit sponsor, and Rooney is the face for Nike. Since Nike loves a forward, Rooney is quids in and we're stuck with him

He ... Kimmich did. He is a jewel! And yeah, they call the team "Die Mannschaft" now. Which I find totally stupid, but there you go.
And Goetze - who? LOL - No really. why was he there again?
