So, the Germany-Poland match turned out to be a damp squid, I hear? Missed it completely.

YAY NORTHERN IRELAND!!!!!!

Aaron was a 1-man midfield yesterday. People keep saying that he's riding on one good season and that's not true because even when he's not scoring, he offers the necessary passes. Dier was class but I don't know Alli was doing. Aside from his accidental assist, he really wasn't good. Either he should step up against Slovakia or Roy should play Jack instead.

Jack Wilshire isn't match fit? jazzypom June 17 2016, 12:39:03 UTC
In England's tradition of carrying players who are injured, or recovering from injury, Wilshire is one.

If we can get 60 mins out of him in one match, we'd have to rest him for another, that sort of thing.

Alli did all right especially in the second half of the game in terms of going forward, especially with him being played out of his normal position. If he normally performs at an 8 or 9, he was a six yesterday. He tracked back, tackled, and the assist and footwork is one of the reasons why you have a player like Alli on the field, because he'll give you that assist.

Conversely, Dier started out well in the first half, and was a wee bit under par in the second.

Trust me, I'd have had him on the field than say, Lallana, who's industrious, but kinda ineffective (still bitter about the money LFC paid for him, tbh. That's probably why I'm jaded re: Lallana).

For £49 million, he can bring his ownself home. How Hodgson decided to take him on the plane in light of the regression he's gone under this past season (and leaving Townsend behind) is a mystery.
