I've read/heard (I don't remember) somewhere that there will be no air-conditioned stadiums in Qatar because the oil prices are going down and they don't have money.

Mess! On the basis of those temps alone, they should have cancelled and looked somewhere else. Even FIFAs own people told itself that it was a risk.

I don't know about you or the rest of the world but I don't see myself watching this mess as it's late Autumn / early Winter - days are shorter, I'm more tired and there are presents to buy and things to bake.

Because of them I'm going to miss the Christmas fixtures. If the PL can probably tell the clubs to use their second string academy talents, I'd watch that instead, because it would be interesting to see football without the glare of the star players all the time.

The BBC ran an article about five things that'll be different with a winter world cup. Barbeques in the sleet (how is that different to a summer barbeque in the UK anyway), harder to tell if someone pulling a sickie is actually ill or watching the football, and everyone's going to end up with world cup christmas presents because no one will get around to doing proper shopping.

German media has been running plenty of caricatures already. Since 2006, watching football has become a mass outdoor event here in many places, so we will be able to look forward to this:

I had no idea Juventus was (regarded as) popular. I literally don't know any fan in RL. I'd say Real Madrid is easily the most popular club in the world.

I had a feeling Suarez would score, but I didn't expect a brace and that he'd be the only scorer for Barca!

Lol, the penalty, I felt bad for Messi. I just saw a video of Joe Hart saying something to Messi right beforehand, does anyone know what he said? When Messi went to the spot I was thinking that it's very likely his shit would be saved and that perhaps they should try with a different striker - although, the last time Neymar took over, it didn't end up so well, heh. How is Suarez as a penalty taker?
Also, am I the only one bothered by the term "he missed the penalty" when the shot is actually blocked? Everytime I read that about a player, I imagine that he shot wide or something.

ETA: I didn't see Neymar's incident in question, but here is a video:

Agreed on the penalties. That way of phrasing it really belittles the achievement of the keeper.

Heh, Neymar. I know people in this comm like to call Reus a "chicken", but really, to me Neymar looks like a small, very aggressive rooster.

"Neymar looks like a small, very aggressive rooster"

lmfaoooo

i liked neymar for a hot second (during some of the WC) but omg his dives/exaggerations are sooo annoying and he seems like one to start shit and just like run or act like he wasnt the one who started it. i mean love his football skills but sheesh

Neymar isn't diving as much now jazzypom February 25 2015, 17:40:21 UTC
It seems that when he dived at the start of the season, Enrique would yank him off the pitch. He's cut down on that ish big time.

But yeah, I think Neymar can be a shit stirrer, tbh.

Stop, Chelsea really used the word 'appalled' in an official context?

Lol, I didn't even notice that. Yes, they used it in the headline of their press release:

Chelsea FC appalled with the FA's decision on Matic ( ... )

hm, the usual suggestions of photoshop or gimp (which is free)

messing around with contrast/color levels might bring the words out more

I don't know if there's too much you can do if the photo is on the smaller side/ with bad lighting/ out of focus though
