My heart is bleeding for Bayern jesscp January 21 2015, 11:12:44 UTC
Call me a bitch all you want Bayern fans, but your current healthy team are smashing it, so all this crying over some members of the team being injured is making me roll my eyes. It's not as if your team are struggling at all...

Talking of my team, I'm not sure midfield is our problem. We really need to strengthen our current players first and foremost. We need to play like a tighter team, too many spaces and lazy passing without forward thinking. Better defensive coaches should be brought in, not new players IMO.

OP did you enjoy the game last night? I didn't watch but followed the live report online - I didn't expect LFC to get a draw. I thought they might get done in by Chelsea, but your boys did good? Just need to remedy the finishes?

Bit off topic but I can't believe it is only Wednesday. It feels like it should be Friday by now! :(

LOL, I know, right? Even their second best is head and shoulders about everyone else. People have started calling the BundLi "Bayern Munich and friends" because it's that bad.

I don't know, actually. A good midfielder can be the brains and lungs of a team in terms of passing and whatnot. What made Gerrard feared (especially when Torres was his forward) was his ability to get a pass and drive it forward with accuracy. That being said, a good defence is like hen's teeth nowadays. Short of the Serie A, no one seems to be about that good defending. But yeah, good defense and passing is always a plus.

i know, Bayern are riding so high with what they have, they should be a little more thankful for that! I'm just bitter about it all. I wouldn't wish injury on any player but I do wish Bayern would lose a few games here and there, just to make me feel better!

I get your point on a good midfielder being totally necessary, but the issue we have with new players is that they need time to bed into the team and time is just something we don't have. We now have then second half of the season to salvage at least a top ten placing if we can... We need everything to go right immediately, we just don't have the time to wait for everything to sort itself out now as its kind of now or never, do or die! I wish I wasn't so negatively dramatic but there you go,!

I get so confused with capital one cup and fa cup and PL all happening at the same time. I hope to catch some of the Spurs game tonight if I can!

Ahh fountain pens! When I was at school it was compulsory for us to use them and we all had Parker pens!!

I read that article on Sebastian Giovinco and thought it was interesting. IDK, it was a bit harsh - if he prioritizes money to a better league, then that's his choice. He'll still be playing football. Although, on the other hand, I imagine he makes very good money already at the current club, so that does seem greedy.

What even is that photo of Terry and Sterling?? Looks like some type of acroyoga. xD Poor Oscar is still not used to the English cold weather, he carries his hot water bottle around, lol.

The fact that he's choosing to 'step down' from the European leagues and come to the MLS for better money, and not necessarily sharpening his skills. It's well known that Michael Bradley's form has slipped since he left Roma and came back to the US (specially Toronto), to the point where Klinsmann had a snap at him in public over his fall in form. Considering Giovinco already had appearances for the Azzuri, the thought is that once he's in the MLS, that's going to stop now.

But at Juventus, he wasn't getting first team minutes and about four deep in terms of pecking order. But for the money I'd be getting, I'd say eff it and do that too.

I don't even know re: Terry and Sterling. What kind of 'tackle' is that? I can laugh now, but wtf'd last night.

Yeah, but so what? It's his choice and maybe he doesn't care so much for quality football and playing for the NT, and instead just wants to play football (even if it's for a sub-par club in a sup-bar league) and make good money while doing it (ridiculous money, it sounds). Although, like I said, I do agree with the part of the article that says that he already earns a lot of money now (most players do) and that he just wanted more and more ("Giovinco was already set up for life based on his career earnings but, like many millionaires, he wanted more and more - regardless of the long-term implications."). But if more money (quadruplet wages!?) gives him more satisfaction than playing for Juventus/Europe/NT, then so be it, it's his life.

Yeah, no argument from me here. In addition, he gets to live in a nice city, learn a new language (his English is sketchy), but I think from the pov of the people who want the MLS to be competiting with Europe in terms of quality and so on, his move is being looked at in various viewpoints and what it means to the MLS (more than him, anyway). I think that's where the problem lies?

lots of outlets are saying that with Kroos, Illarra is surplus to requirements and Athletic are willing to pay €20/25m for him. I think he needs to move and I'd happily have him here at Athletic.

Wow, so this is gaining traction then? jazzypom January 21 2015, 17:36:36 UTC
To be fair Ancelotti doesn't seem to have much use for Illarra, and when he's been on, he hans't impressed in the fifteen minutes before time. From Real Madrid to Bilbao Atheltic (I heard it was Atletico Madrid, don't mind me, continue) - interesting!

LFC would take him, we seem to be lusting after midfielders when we need forwards :P
