Can I please not be reminded of yesterday's disaster? I can understand your partner's anger. I still feel like killing all of them.

There's a campaign wanting him to be recognised as the evolution of goal keeping.

Well, obviously. When was the last time you saw a GK who can play as a midfielder, defender and striker? Can Iker? Can Gigi? Did Olli? Nope. That is the power of the King.

And OP, Mignolet was FABULOUS yesterday! Goal aside, he repeatedly denied the Madrid boys. Crispy was so hoping that he could equalize Raul's record but Simon ruined it for him! Yesterday's match will give him a much needed boost of confidence. And the Liverpool B team has proven that they should be the A team.

Ah, Horse-Face and the Lovechild. Such a tender moment between two Sevilla men.

In this picture, that's Thiago Silva, the ex-Brazil and current PSG captain behind Lavezzi.

Man, my partner- usually as placid as oatmeal milk- was livid last night. Whereas I was like, "Wow, Liverpool played a game and I didn't hate everything afterwards? What is this *feeling*?"

I guess he felt he had to come correct. If he were like that all the time, we wouldn't need to be beating the bushes in Europe for another goalie. Borini was working last night, but I wish Rodgers had some other game plan really than one striker in front. There's the feeling of Rodgers doing his coach training wheels with us (and making some howlers) so he can parlay it into trying to manage a team in Spain, but a part of coaching is realising that you need personnel for ish you can't do, and Rodgers needs ( ... )

Yes! And Manquillo is a former Real Madrid boy himself so he was definitely out to prove a point.

I'm hoping that the two of them get called up to the senior squad of NT. Let's face it, Spain's defense is not the same without Puyol. He (and Joan Capdevila back in '08 and '10) did all the defending work. Even Horse-Face has been pretty terrible in the NT without Puyi covering for him. They need new blood like Manqui and the lovechild and what better time to bring them in?

Hmm yes. I think Victor might have in the stands last night. I am glad Rodgers put Manquillo in against Real Madrid, because even with his inexperience, he's better than Glen Johnson. Always switched on, and wasn't afraid of anyone. When Manquillo and Moreno are on the team sheet as the starting XI I'm good, yes, even with their lapses - but they are still learning.

They need new blood like Manqui and the lovechild and what better time to bring them in?

For real! It also helps that Ramos and Moreno already know each other and have some sort of chemistry. But Spain has so much depth in their side, I'm not even worried about them. I have my own National Team to hurl invectives at.

as always, nice work OP!
last night was great (let's not even mention arsenal) because my two teams are now advancing to the next round with still two matches left!

what i'm curious about though, is if iker swapped shirts with mario (even though he didn't play)?

I know that the Liverpool players were staying in Madrid over night to train and prep for Chelsea, and are supposed to be flying back this afternoon/evening. So there's enough time for Casillas to offer and get it. Mario Balotelli seems generous enough to give it.

Man, Liverpool lost and have all to do now, but at least we showed character, and some sort of hunger and trying to answer questions that were thrown at us. So.

you have every right to be proud, sis. the team yesterday showed determination and hunger, and they proved their doubters wrong. everyone was expecting them to get thrashed by RM and when the final whistle was blown and only a single point was scored, i reckon people changed their attitude towards liverpool b! though my only advice right now is maybe having better strikers or just good finishers because i think i saw some stats last night saying there have been 0 shots on target (correct me if i'm wrong), and you'll be getting the good results in no time. :)

No, you're not wrong. Our strikers are terrible! It's sad. Borini seems to have the drive and hustle but no finish. Balotelli seems to be someone who likes to work off someone else (the best he played was with Sturridge up front... yeah) but Rogers insists on a lone striker up front even though Balotelli isn't that kind of player ( ... )

Luiz Adriano seems to be on FIYAH right now. I watched the simulcast the last time Shakhtar played in the CL and they kept switching back b/c he kept scoring, lol. I forgot that he scored 5 goals! Maybe Brazil should reconsider not calling him up. ;-P

And I think the clear culprit of the Arsenal-Anderlecht game is Arsene's new coat. It might be easier to zip, but it seems to have bad juju. I am glad I went to sleep instead of trying to stay up yesterday.

OP - as always I love these round up posts, thanks for doing them!

I am still so happy for BVB and I am grabbing this feeling for all it is because by the weekend I will be a bundle of nerves again :( please continue to spam with pics of TinTin - he did an interview last night after the match and said he was doing the monkey emoji goal celebrations because of a bet he had with 2 friends and nothing to do with the transfer rumours. Basically he has just cemented himself in the number 1 spot in my heart.

Liverpool did the best they could last night - still room for improvement but I reserve my massive side eye for Wenger and Arsenal today! Ugh :( still at a loss to describe the mess and I didn't even watch the game.

I have no interest in Bayern - I reckon they will win but I'd love one team to beat them pretty soon as its kinda boring watching a team win all the time so I might actually check out either the Man City or Schalke games tonight, not a fan of either but idk, all to play for I guess ( ... )

yeah, German police investigating attempted homicide jazzypom November 5 2014, 15:18:23 UTC
The article is in German, use google translate here. UEFA needs to do something.

Quick translation:

Gala fans were already throwing flares and firecrackers at Police and passersby prior the match, but the Police feared that an intervention would cause a total escalation.
But once inside the stadium, Gala fans didn't stop their violence. They kept throwing firecrackers, flares and other stuff at people.
After the match police took the personal data of everyone in the visitor block.
Police could barely stop a group of Dortmund hools from attacking Gala fans.

That is a very emotional hug with Ramos and Alberto. Very lovely despite that it is not in the same shirt at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán. :)
