never gonna happen. it's Putin we are talking about

though i'd be happy to see the manaus' stadium (Brasil) being used a few more times. as trouble as it was (i was obviously against it) it's undeniable i'd love the WC to be here forever and ever
sexual purposes ofc

we should be looking forward to the one in Qatar. that's going to be great. who doesn't love playing a little football in the desert?

Won't they use it for the Olympics? That stadium was SOO expensive

Qatar will be a mess (it already is), but I guess they can play at night? People keep mentioning out doors air conditioning, but idk if it'll work.

bb, the olympics are in Rio only. they are building new things for that as well.
they are probably never gonna use it again. if they do, it'll be for minor events that didn't demand such a huge structure.
and there are rumors about making the Brasília one private already. i mean, we just built it! we could at least pretend we were gonna keep it, right?

they are changing the date so it's not in summer
other than that, i don't think there is a lot you can do
playing at night would be a smart thing to do but can you imagine the group stage when you have 3, sometimes 4 matches in one day? it'd be trouble

I completely forgot the Olympics happen in just one city.

Having it during winter could work, many European leagues already have winter breaks so they could make those longer for one year. Just make sure everyone can spend New Years with their families.

i really feel for the teams in 2022, so many pre-season teams look like they're dying playing here-van gaal even made man utd take a water break

plus how some of the players look when they played during the day in brazil, qatar nor brazil should be hosting. i just read an article about a year later workers in qatar still haven't received payment and they're still working in roach infested conditions. i wish other countries had been picked, this is going to get messier.

also, has any country ever lost the right because of bad enough press? i know the right to host has been given up because of the lack of funds.

i think fifa is to blame for how bad it was to play here in brazil. we have football tournaments during the whole year, including summer which is crazy hot here. the problem is: you can't play at 1 pm, it's the worst time. and they put a number in the degrees so the ref could be allowed to give a technical break, i mean, if it's too hot, it's too hot. you don't need to check how many degrees it is to know that, right? there are scientific things such as thermal sensation and humidity as well ( ... )

sorry, i actually meant qatar nor russia should host-i didn't think brazil should have because the money seemed better spent elsewhere and even with the political messiness it was a good WC (plus what's done is done)

ahahhhahaha ok, dear
i couldn't agree more

it would be better if i had managed to get tickets for the matches
other than that, love it love it adore it worship it

but will Russia be too cold? i have no idea how the weather is during summer

Everything about the Russia and Qatar WC is shady. Money-wise and human rights wise. The war in Ukrain and the plane crash makes it all incredibly complicated politically and diplomatically. Changing the hosts would be a good iddea but where would you go.

maybe england, or the US, or germany? i read germany called for russia to be stripped of their rights to host.

I think it should remain in Russia.

any reasons? and don't tell me about positive impact on human rights because I'm just going to laugh in your face.

I don't think the reasons to move it are enough. Or that it should even be possible for FIFA to do so without some kind of process beyond politicians in certain countries demanding so.

If we're talking purely in terms of representing the world I'd agree. I'm even okay with a Middle Eastern country holding the tournament if it wasn't for the whole desert-conditions deal.

But the politics muck it all up. Like if FIFA wasn't so tied up in bribe money and all that other bullshit and it was purely a "let us show you the world and various cultures every four years"? I'm down.

Come on, FIFA, everyone knows the best possible hosts of the WC would be Ireland. We'd feck it up spectacularly, we have no money for renovations, the weather would be bad, the stadiums would be too small and someone would probably take the trophy to Cash Converters...but at least we'd all be drunk and having a good time.

De Bruyne wouldn't even need to bring sunscreen.

They should come to India. We were such a mess before the last Commonwealth Games. God knows how the government managed to scrape its ass to get the stadiums ready on time.

In all seriousness, Ireland would be awesome. I would come just for the atmosphere of the games.

The opening ceremony in India was amazing, one of the best imo.

Yeah, it wasn't bad. Really saved us from worldwide embarrassment after the corruption scandal.
