Um, as a Chinese person, I take great issue with this being called racism, given Japan's long history as an imperialist power. It is not that long ago that Korean people have suffered under Japanese rule, and I know many Korean people who have living relatives who still have bad memories of that era.

Whether or not such a political display was appropriate at this sort of sporting event is another issue entirely, but reminding your former oppressors of their abuses from not-so-long-ago is not racism. :|||||||||

actually i got confused myself when thinking up the title although what i really had in mind was "not just racism, but no politics in football too, please". i'll just take it out of the title to save the trouble. i didn't even include it in the tags so the intent really wasn't there. i think what confused me is that sometimes the line separating the two has become so blurred or thin. as a result of the politics, some racism against each culture ensues. it has happened to my country already before, when our men's team (Philippines) visited Hong Kong recently. the vicious racist comments stemmed from political issues.

Ugh. Here we go again. that's why I'm not so keen in this whole EAFF thing, I know something like this would happen...I know that there seem to be unresolved issues between the 2 nations but pls leave football out of this>_

I don't see how you could penalize on the first banner, because it's one of those things you KNOW what they're talking about but is vague enough to cover their ass. The other two are pretty blatant, though. It's pretty shitty to take out on the players, considering their only crime is being born in a country that's done bad things before.
