She's leaving after the World cup :( She's a world class coach who needs the complete backing of a world-class organization which the CSA isn't. She's done a lot for the team in terms of style, coaching and confidence
i haven't followed the women's soccer team, but she's done some great stuff for us from i've heard around from news source, so i'm sad that she couldn't do more for us... like continue :(
and i don't really understand what's happening with all this reform business tbqh :3 there's a lot of complicated lingo going on with "framework" and "governance renewal" and all. i don't quite get it...
I'm basically leeching off of de Vos but he explains it really well in this article. If you don't have time to read it, I'll copy/paste the essentials:
Governance is defined as the processes and structures whereby an organization (in this case the CSA) makes decisions about its future in an effective, accountable and transparent manner.
An effective governance structure clarifies organizational roles, ensures that the Board is diversified and enables the Board to govern in the greater interests of the organization while remaining accountable to the membership.
Currently, the Board of Directors of the CSA are made up of the Provincal Associations (eg Alberta, BC, Quebec) Presidents. Because a lot of the CSA funding comes from the registration fees of players playing in the provinces, the presidents feel justified in their roles of determining how the CSA is run. The argument here is that the BoD does not have Canada's best interest in mind because the directors want to protect the interests of their provinces first before they
