The credit crunch hit the Premier League hard this year with spending - well, outside of Manchester - considerably down compared to previous years. But there has still been room for a few big-money flops.

Any coach, player or owner will try and put a positive spin on their bad buys, but when they can't even get in the team, fail to live up to their ( Read more... )

Not even a LP fan but how is Kyrgiakos a bad signing? Trust goal.com to highlight his soft sending off against Everton. You would think he cost more then £2 million, haha.

I think Kolo Toure has been pretty poor for City, considering he cost £16 million, they've not kept much clean sheets and last time I looked he wasn't even playing regularly for them anymore..don't know if that's changed..

Can't think of anymore..

Lescott has been a wayyyyy worse signing than Toure, imo. At least Toure has "leadership", all Lescott ever seems to do for City is score own goals. Considering all the hooha over getting him from Everton, they really needn't have bothered.

sadly, i have to agree with #1

what were you thinking rafa?! actually, i see what you were thinking. it just didn't work out. how's plan b going for you?

THE BIG GREEK!!! should have been in england long ago. leave it to the press to pick on the man, he's a veteran and should be respected. he's finally getting to play rough for once in his life, they should just let him live a little

LFC's new #4 is glaring #1 on this list. We knew he'd be injured, but we expected him to perform after he was given ample time to get healthy. He's only shown us what he's really got in 2 or 3 matches, and that's not enough for the 22m we paid for him, although we've only paid around 8m for him at this point

number 6 is so shit. SOTIRIOS HAS BEEN FUCKING KICK ASS(for his price and standards obviously) anyone who disagrees should go watch his performances. excluding the first couple where he was dodgy but can't really blame him. Goal.com is shit yet again.

it's a shame about santa cruz though. He was doing so well at Blackburn, totally fucked over at man city. Should've never left really. I don't feel for him though....KA CHING!

i'd rather not talk about #1. I'm still in denial and I still believe we'll be laughing at this next season when he's playing regularly(HA.HA.okay i know). but still, the guy's got skills.

lmao I knew Aqui would be #1. In terms of this season he has been a bad signing, but in the long term I reckon he'll be a bargain. When he's played he's shown clear signs of what he's capable of and him being out this season has helped Lucas develop a lot.

Soto has been an amazing signing though! He single handedly sorted out our defence after they'd turned into a bunch of pussies and been on that bad run of conceding every game. He cost hardly anything, doesn't mind not starting every match and is reliable whenever he gets a game. Definite cult hero in the making.

Don't really get the Mido one either - he might not have played particularly well so far but I think a player who is willing to have (relatively) really low wages who's just desperate to play well is worth having around.

But in 5 seasons, I think he's only managed 14 league appearances which suggests to me, he is just injury prone. It doesn't appear that Liverpool's medical staff have 'cured' him like everyone thought..

The thing with Aquilani is that there were rumblings awhile ago that he'd be leaving in the summer (and not because of his injuries or his football). We've paid Roma for him in packages with all sort of clauses that when he makes such and such appearances Roma would get all sorts of bonuses added on so I have a sneaky thought the club are aiming to only pay so much for him this season and with the 4th place spot in the table gone and not as much CL money this year and next season, there's no money.

So with news of the club being put up for sale, hopefully it will be sorted and he'll still be with us. It's not his fault at all in this sticky mess.

There's also a new club doctor/physio joining us in the summer who's one of the best in the business apparently and he somehow miraculously cured Harry Kewell from all his injuries since he left us which can only be great news for our other crocks (I however feel Aurelio will be leaving us this summer).

Yeah I heard those rumours too.
Normally I'd dismiss it as a load of conspiracy bollocks but the amount of times he's missed games due to "illness" makes me think it might be true.
