I didn't see the other matches fully nor have I seen much from the england bbs, but Germany played really well today. The defense was solid and their attack was pretty great too. Ozil was really making a lot of chances from what I saw. I dunno what happened with the england bbs but I'm guessing it was the lack of confidence after the first goal. Also have to say it again but the German defense was really great. I think the formation for Germany was different too (from the one they use in the A-team), but all the players really worked well together today.
They had a bad day. We're better than that. I won't make excuses but there are reasons - for a start, Loach has only started one or two games at U21 level. If Hart had been in goal, the second and third goals probably wouldn't have gone in. We had no one upfront. Gaby Agbonlahor and Campbell were suspended so Walcott was on his own. He didn't play well and he hasn't all tournament.
Germany were very good but, on our day, we could have beaten them. Our 'second string' drew with them before but I guess that's what both teams needed at the time. I don't know what happened - one goal down we could have fought back but the second goal was terrible for the keeper and I think it was just a damn shock. They really believed they were going to win it. Not indicative on the English talent front. They're a good team, it was a bad day - in my opinion anyhow.

I don't know why I'm looking at this, it's just making me miserable all over again. But well done to your boys. They utterly deserved the win today. If the second goal hadn't gone in, we might have been able to fight back. I'm just proud of my boys for getting that far, for winning a penalty shoot-out at last and learning a hell of a lot. But congratulations, the best team on the night always deserves to win. Except, I'm mad at your coach for bringing Schwaab and Aogo on. I'm sure he did it because he knows I adore them and I just had to sit there silently hoping they'd forget how to play :|
